Seattle, United States – June 30, 2026 / ChefShop.com /

SEATTLE, WA — ChefShop will host “A Taste of Japan: Meet the Makers” at ChefShop on Saturday, July 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at its Seattle retail shop, located at 1425 Elliott Ave West.

The free, drop-in tasting event will feature visiting Japanese specialty ingredient makers from Yugeta Soy Sauce, Wadaman Sesame, and Nitto Jozo. Customers will have the opportunity to taste soy sauce, sesame, shirotamari, and other Japanese specialty ingredients while meeting the people behind the products.

“This is a rare chance for our customers to connect directly with the makers behind some truly special Japanese ingredients,” said Eliza Ward of ChefShop. “These are products with deep roots in family tradition, regional craft, and everyday cooking. We’re excited to give people the opportunity to taste them, ask questions, and learn more about how they’re made and used.”

The event will feature:

Yugeta Soy Sauce, a fourth-generation family soy sauce brewery founded in 1923 in Saitama Prefecture. Yoichi Yugeta, fourth-generation leader of the company, will be at the event to share the brewery’s soy sauce and story.

Wadaman Sesame, a fifth-generation sesame producer known for carefully selected, deeply flavorful sesame products. Takehiro Wada, fifth-generation president of Wadaman, will represent the company at the tasting.

Nitto Jozo, an Aichi-based brewery founded in 1938 and known for shirotamari, a wheat-based seasoning with a lighter color and delicate depth of flavor. Taisuke Ninagawa, vice president and fourth-generation family member of Nitto Jozo, will be at the event to share the company’s products and brewing traditions.

A Taste of Japan: Meet the Makers at ChefShop is designed as a casual tasting experience for anyone interested in Japanese ingredients, fermentation, specialty food, cooking, or meeting the people behind the products they use in their kitchens.
