Sovos, the AI-ready tax compliance company, today announced the full commercial availability of Sovos Intelligence™, the intelligence platform designed to help businesses see their tax data the way governments already do. As tax authorities shift from periodic audits to real-time data matching across e-invoicing, VAT returns, SAF-T filings, and other datasets, Sovos Intelligence gives businesses a unified, authority-aligned view of their indirect tax compliance footprint before issues are flagged by regulators. These out-of-the-box insights eliminate manual work required to reconcile different documents by tax compliance teams.
First launched in July 2025 and now significantly expanded, Sovos Intelligence serves as the intelligence layer across the Sovos Indirect Tax Suite (ITS).
Sovos Intelligence helps tax and finance teams detect discrepancies, reconcile data across systems, and create an auditable record of their compliance position. In a world where governments can often connect the dots faster than companies can internally, Sovos Intelligence helps businesses close a critical insights gap. It gives teams the speed, visibility, and confidence to act before tax authorities do.
“Governments now have a real-time view into a company’s tax data, but many businesses are still trying to piece that same picture together across disconnected systems,” said Kevin Akeroyd, CEO, Sovos. “Sovos Intelligence closes that gap by giving tax and finance teams a continuous, authority-aligned view of their compliance position. Armed with this information, they can detect issues, reconcile data, and prove accuracy with regulators.”
From “Prepare and File” to “Detect, Reconcile, and Prove”
The centerpiece of this expansion is the Reconciliation Rules Engine, now serving as the operating core of the Sovos Intelligence solution. The engine continuously matches transactional e-invoicing data (ingested directly from Sovos Compliance Network), VAT filing submissions, and SAF-T audit datasets against one another, applying customer-defined matching logic at scale. It also classifies outcomes as matched, unmatched, or as an exception, and surfaces only the discrepancies that require human judgment with every rule application being fully auditable, eliminating a current manual and extremely time-consuming process for businesses.
This is what Sovos calls Mirror Visibility™, a single governed data model built to mirror the lens through which tax authorities triangulate and assess compliance. Sovos Intelligence’s Mirror Visibility provides real-time insight into how tax authorities view businesses, including:
- Duplicate detection: Identifies duplicate invoice submissions that inflate tax liability
- Vendor-buyer reconciliation: Enables reconciliation between vendor reports and company submissions
- Real-time triangulation: Cross-references transactional, declarative, and audit data to detect inconsistencies before enforcement
New with this update
The latest release of Sovos Intelligence extends well beyond reconciliation infrastructure. Key capabilities now available include:
- Compliance Network Connector: Ingests transactional e-invoicing data directly from Sovos Compliance Network (cloud-based e-Invoicing solution), enabling businesses to cross-check what was filed declaratively against what was submitted transactionally.
- Import Custom Data Sets: Imports non-Sovos data sources for developing reconciliation views regardless of where transactions/e-invoice data comes from or which government systems they are filed with.
- Report of Reports: Every analysis run in Sovos Intelligence automatically generates a quarriable semantic model, turning report output into input for the next layer.
- Natural Language Analytics (powered by Ask Sovi® AI): Users ask compliance questions in plain language and receive structured tabular results, reusable saved queries, and visualizations; no SQL required.
- Asynchronous Export for Audit Evidence: Large reconciliation datasets are exported asynchronously and retained on the platform, available to any authorized user across time zones.
- Custom BI Dashboards: Tax and finance leaders can build, publish, and share custom dashboards across their organizations, drilling from KPI to source record in a governed, consistent experience that eliminates parallel Excel-based reporting.
- Inline Report Collaboration: Users can add comments directly on individual report rows during reconciliation, creating a documented close trail.
A New Layer of Intelligence Across the ITS Ecosystem
Sovos Intelligence is designed to work with existing or new Sovos Indirect Tax Suite deployments, drawing upon data from Compliance Network, VAT Filing, and SAF-T to produce a reconciled, cross-system view that none of those solutions surfaces on its own. Rather than requiring organizations to build and maintain custom data pipelines between their compliance tools, Sovos Intelligence serves as the intelligence layer that makes the entire ITS investment work harder.
“The compliance intelligence gap is not a future risk. It’s today’s operational reality for multinational enterprises,” said Ryan Ostilly, VP, product management, Sovos. “Sovos Intelligence was designed with one goal, to give tax and finance teams the same view of their data that the authority has, continuously. We have expanded this vision into a full cross-system intelligence layer, and this is just the beginning: we’ll soon be extending these powerful insights to U.S. tax compliance obligations, including sales tax and information reporting and withholding.”
