Island Brings the Enterprise Browser to AI Agents

DALLAS, Oct. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today Island introduced the Enterprise Browser for Agents, a new way for agents to access, read, and act on SaaS and web apps, internal applications, and public websites with all the organization’s enterprise controls and policies applied.

Agents are already at work across departments. Sales agents update CRM records after calls. HR agents onboard new hires. Finance agents process invoices. To do real work, agents need what people use every day: a browser to fill forms, pull data, and chain actions across applications.

Until now, organizations often had to use ad-hoc approaches that layered controls on top of consumer infrastructure. This setup may create risks such as exposed credentials, data escaping from sanctioned applications, records open to deletion.

“Island already had what agents need: identity federation, data boundaries, credential isolation, and full attribution, all proven in production,” said Dan Amiga, Island’s CTO and Co-founder. “Agents inherit Island’s security model on day one, with policies built specifically for them.”

Island governs browser activities, not agents

With Island, organizations deploy AI products exactly how they do today. Island governs browser activities from the moment an endpoint or cloud agent calls the browser or access internal resources — including data movement, credential usage, and resulting outputs — according to the organization’s configured policies. These steps include where data moves, where credentials get used, and the resulting outputs. Island deploys on devices and in the cloud, covering local and remote agents with no dependency on a cloud-hosted browser outside the organization’s control.

Just as Island embedded security and productivity controls for human workers in its Enterprise Browser, the Enterprise Browser for Agents applies the same policy framework to govern how agents operate. Island helped define the Enterprise Browser category and is the only vendor named a “Customers’ Choice” in the 2026 Gartner® Peer Insights™ Voice of the Customer for Secure Enterprise Browsers.

Built into the engine

Controls are built natively into the Enterprise Browser for Agents and cannot be disabled or bypassed by end users or agents.

  • Governed access to browser tools. Island grants an agent only authorized tools and pages, set per agent and per application, down to which DOM operations are allowed and whether the agent can write or only read. The MCP layer is policy-governed, too, so an agent only gets the capabilities it is authorized to use.
  • Identity binding with separate agent policy. Agents inherit the user’s enterprise identity and operate under the user’s permissions. Policy can apply to the user, to the user and their agents together, or to the agents alone.
  • User and agent attribution on every event. Audit logs record whether a human or an agent took the action, meeting requirements for forensic investigations and SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA-eligible workflows, PCI DSS, and EU AI Act compliance. Sessions can also be recorded in full for visual playback of every page, click, and form submission.
  • Read-only mode on sensitive systems. Agents can work freely in low-risk tools while critical systems stay closed to write privileges. In ERPs and other systems of record, agents view and extract without modifying, submitting, or deleting data.
  • Data boundaries and credential isolation. Island inspects rendered content, clipboard operations, file uploads, print jobs, and screen captures before encryption, and holds agents inside a defined perimeter of sanctioned applications. The built-in vault injects credentials directly into login forms, including applications with no identity provider integration, so passwords never pass through the model’s context window.
  • Internal application access without a VPN. Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) connectors expose only the specific internal applications policy allows, each gated by identity and device posture, with no lateral network reach.
  • Digital experience monitoring for agents. Island measures page load times, interaction latency, errors, and completion rates for agent sessions, so teams can find bottlenecks and measure automation ROI.

Faster agents and lower token bills

Agentic browsing can run up costs beyond planned budgets. Consumer browser extensions that depend on screenshots often require the model to interpret pixels rather than structured page data. With web pages carrying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, pushing all of it through AI burns tokens at each step.

Island owns the browser engine. Island’s annotation-based APIs enable efficient page parsing, reducing token consumption and improving interaction reliability.

Island also learns from repeated agent workflows, remembering navigation paths and pre-loading resources so the same multi-step process may complete faster on subsequent runs.

“Within a few years, most enterprises’ browser activity will come from agents, not people,” said Amiga. “Organizations that treat agent browsing as a separate problem end up running a second workforce nobody can see. Whether an agent needs a browser, local desktop resources, or upstream MCPs and LLMs, Island is there.”
